Write For The Militarist
We publish analysis that serious people in India’s defence ecosystem read and trust.
What We Are Looking For
We publish pieces that make a clear argument, are grounded in specific knowledge or evidence, and say something that isn’t already being said elsewhere. We are not interested in general overviews, press release summaries, or pieces that reach no conclusion.
The best contributions come from people with direct knowledge — serving or retired military officers, defence engineers, researchers, procurement professionals, and policy experts who have something specific and important to say.
Our Editorial Standards
We fact-check everything. We will push back on claims that are not supported by evidence. We edit for clarity and concision — expect your draft to be tightened. We do not publish pieces that are promotional, politically partisan, or designed to advance a specific contractor or institutional interest.
Anonymity
We publish contributions under author names, pen names, or anonymously depending on contributor preference. We understand that many people with the most valuable knowledge to share cannot attach their name to it publicly. We protect source and contributor identities rigorously.
How to Pitch
Send a pitch of no more than two paragraphs to editor@themilitarist.in with the subject line: Contributor Pitch.
Your pitch should describe your argument in one paragraph and explain why it matters now in a second. Do not send full drafts without pitching first.
We aim to respond to all pitches within five working days.
Word Count and Format
Send drafts as Google Docs or Word documents. Include a one-line bio and your preferred byline or anonymity preference.
